Yellowknife Bay

Yellowknife Bay is a geological feature on the planet Mars, named after the bay of the same name in the Northwest Territories of Canada. It is located in the Gale Crater, which is the site of the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) mission and the Curiosity rover. Yellowknife Bay on Mars is an area of rock formations that were formed from sediment deposited in the Gale Crater billions of years ago. It is of interest to scientists because it contains evidence of past water activity on Mars, which could provide clues about the planet’s geologic history and potential for hosting life.
