Yard 45006 Vajra

The 6th offshore patrol vessel, Yard 45006 Vajra, was launched in late February to improve the capacity of the Indian Coast Guard.

Yard 45006 Vajra is an offshore patrol vessel that was built under the ‘Make in India’ initiative. It is the 6th in a series of 7 such vessels being built by Larsen & Toubra Shipbuilding Ltd. The vessel was launched at the Kattupalli Port in Chennai.

The Vajra is to be used by the Indian Coast Guard to secure the 7,500km coastline. It is to be used for surveillance, search and rescue and other operations. It is to be used for anti-terrorist and anti-smuggling operations along the coast.

The Vajra was launched at the Kattupalli Port which is in Ennore near Chennai in Tamil Nadu. It is being used as a shipyard cum captive port by Larsen and Toubro- who built the Yard 45006 Vajra.
