Who was first Indian woman Doctorate in Basic Science?

The first Indian woman Doctorate in Basic Science was Janaki Ammal in 1931. She was a world renowned Botanist, cytogeneticist. Ammal persuaded her degree in US and returned to India. She was likely the first woman to obtain a PhD in botany in the US. After returning India she started her work as a geneticist in the Sugarcane Breeding Institute at Coimbatore and helped to create sugarcane hybrids that yielded sweeter sugar. The flower Magnolia Kobus Janaki Ammal is named after her. She was one of the first women scientists to receive the Padma Shri way back in 1977.
However, Asima Chatterjee was the first woman to receive a Doctorate of Science from an Indian university. Asima Chatterjee had received doctoral degree in 1944 in organic chemistry from the University of Calcutta.
