What is the proposal regarding Telegraph Act, 1855 with respect to In flight Wi-Fi services in aircrafts in India?

While flying over Indian airspace, the passengers don’t get Wi-Fi services not due to technical reasons but due to legal reasons. At present, Wi-Fi services are not available for data, voice and call usage over the Indian airspace not only for domestic but also for international airlines that offer such facilities to passengers. The international airlines need discontinue the Wi-Fi services while flying over Indian airspace.

To make these services available, there is a proposal to amend the Indian Telegraph Act, 1855. Currently, such proposal is to be moved to cabinet for approval.
