What is Limnology?

The scientific study of lakes and ponds with respect to their chemical, physical and biological properties is known as Limnology. It is derived from the Greek words, limne: lake and logos: Knowledge.

A more recent sub-discipline of limnology, termed landscape limnology, studies, manages, and conserves these aquatic ecosystems using a landscape perspective.
