What is the purpose of Clinometer?

A Clinometer or Inclinometer is an instrument that is used for determining the difference in elevation between two points and so used in finding the slope of an embankment and Dip of a rock stratum etc.

Clinometers measure both inclines (positive slopes, as seen by an observer looking upwards) and declines (negative slopes, as seen by an observer looking downward) using three different units of measure: degrees, percent, and topo.
