January 24 – National girl child day of India

Prime Ministers Office has ordered an internal inquiry into the lapse in the advertisement issued by the Women and Child Development Ministry on National Girl Child Day. PMO also apologized for inclusion of photograph of a foreign national in Government advertisement on girl child. The inquiry will be headed by the additional secretary Mr. Sudhir Kumar in Women and Child Devolpment Ministry. A newspaper advertisement given by the government today carried a photograph of a former Pakistan Air Force chief along with that of Prime Minister and Congress President.

Union Bank of India receives much needed approval from market regulator SEBI to launch Union KBC Asset Management Company as Joint venture with KBC Asset Management.

Maruti’s Profit 3 Fold:
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (MSIL) reports over three-fold increase in its net profit at Rs.687.53 crore in the third quarter of the current fiscal ending December 31, 2009, against the same quarter of previous fiscal, while its net sales went up by over 62 per cent to Rs.7,334 crore. A favourable conditions in the domestic market supported by the government’s stimulus package and ease of automobile finance helped achieve good sales.
