M23 Movement

M23 Movement refers to the March 23 Movement, which is a rebel military group based in eastern areas of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), mainly operating in the province of North Kivu. This outfit has been formed in April 2012, when some 300 soldiers, all former members of the National Congress for the Defence of the People (CNDP), mutinied against the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (FARDC), complaining of poor conditions. This number rose since the formation of the group.
