India-Colombia Relations

India and Colombia agreed on diplomatic ties in 1959. Colombia is India’s commercial point of entry into Latin America. The two countries opened embassies in 1970s at New Delhi and Bogota. Colombian embassy in India also serves Colombians in Nepal, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. India’s oil company Oil India had invested US$425 million dollars in oil production in Colombia in 2006. The major cooperation between India and Colombia are in oil production, solar energy etc.
