Daporijo Bridge

Despite of the lockdown conditions, the Border Road Organisation has successfully completed the construction of the Daporijo Bridge in record time.

About the Bridge

The Daporijo Bridge is a strategic link in Arunachal Pradesh and was constructed over the Subansiri River in less than a month. It is a link towards the Line of Actual Control (LAC) between India and China. It has been upgraded from class 24 tons to class 40 tons.

Subansiri River

The bridge was constructed over the Subansiri River. The Subansiri is a tributary of the Brahmaputra River. It is the largest among the Brahmaputra tributaries. It is a 442km long river that runs through Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Tibet. It originates in the Himalayas in China.

BRO

The BRO or Border Road Organisation is road development organisation that operates in the border areas of the country and also in friendly neighbouring countries. It was formed in 1960 for civil engineering and infrastructural development. It is under the Union Ministry of Defence.
