Baloch Liberation Army

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) is an armed separatist group which is fighting the security forces of Pakistan, mainly in ethnic Baloch areas of Pakistan. BLA is the armed wing of the Baloch movement.

What is BLA fighting for?

BLA is of the view that Pakistan is exploiting the resources of the Baloch Province without giving the due share to the locals and the indigenous Baloch tribes.

BLA rebels claim that they are aiming for freedom from Pakistan. BLA also claims internal reform of the Baloch society since they are opposed to traditional Sardar or Kawailey system as the other objective.

There are other groups such as Free Balochistan Movement and the Baloch Republican Party which also put forward the same cause but does not accept the idea of military confrontation with the Pakistani state.

BLA is listed as a terrorist organization by Pakistan, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
