Russia has claimed that its first vaccine to treat the deadly COVID 19 disease will be ready by as soon as August 12, 2020. The vaccine is being developed by Moscow’s Gamaleya Institute and Russian Direct Investment Fund.
The said vaccine is expected to be ready for mass consumption and utilization within 4 to 7 days of registration by drug regulators. However, the main concern here is that the data pertaining to the trial of this vaccine has not been made public. This puts a question mark of the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine.
Other Russian Vaccines in the Pipeline
Apart from this vaccine, there are a few other candidates for COVID 19 vaccine being developed by Russia. One such vaccine is undergoing human trial at the Russian State Virology Institute. It has also been observed that the volunteers being injected with the vaccine is showing positive outcomes.
Apart from Russia, scientists from all over the world are in the pursuit of developing an effective vaccine for this deadly virus. In India, two vaccines are in the human trial stage whereas the vaccine developed by Oxford University is also undergoing human trials. China is also developing vaccines to treat the novel coronavirus that has affected more than 1.7 Cr people around the world.
