West Bengal Govt to start monthly stipend for Old Writers & Litterateurs

The West Bengal Government has planned to commence from next month a monthly stipend/pension for Old Writers and Litterateurs.
In the first phase of this plan:

  • 170 people will be awarded Rs 1,500 each.
  • 100 theatre troops will be given an annual grant of Rs 3,500 each.
  • 120 veteran Jatra Artists and 215 Folk Artists will be given Rs 7,000 each.
  • The state’s 100 folk troops will also be given Rs 5,000 as a single time grant.
