Vice President Releases Book ‘Religion, Law & Society-Across the Globe’
“Religion, Law & Society- Across the Globe”, a book authored by Prof. Tahir Mahmood was released by The Vice President of India Shri M. Hamid Ansari. The book provides insights into a range of complex and inter-linked matters of constitutional and socio-legal importance.
Prof. Tahir Mahmood:
- Renowned jurist well-known for his expertise in religion and the law, human rights and civil liberties, particularly the law pertaining to the educational rights of minorities.
- He held various prestigious positions like: Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi; Chairman, National Commission for Minorities; Member, National Human Rights Commission; and Jurist-Member, Ranganath Misra Commission.
- A member of the Law Commission of India from 2006-10.
- Professor Mahmood is the first Muslim to be named to the Law Commission of India and he was the only permanent member of the Eighteenth Commission.
