Upper House debates Surrogacy Regulation Bill, 2019

On 19 Nov, while debating on Surrogacy Bill in winter session of Parliament, Health Minister Dr Harsh Vadhan said India has emerged as a hub of surrogacy in recent years. The Surrogacy Regulation Bill, 2019 prohibits commercial surrogacy, but allows altruistic surrogacy. Its provisions include establishing National Surrogacy Board, State Surrogacy Board and appointment of appropriate authorities for the regulation of practice and process of surrogacy. The purpose of the Bill is to regulate surrogacy in India.
