Telangana government launches e-Vahan Bima Scheme

Telangana Government has launched e-Vahan Bima Scheme to issue motor insurance policy in digital form.
With this, Telangana became the first state in the country to legally accept motor vehicle insurance policy in digital form.

About e-Vahan Bima Scheme

  • The scheme is an electronic motor insurance policy issued in digital form with Quick Response (QR) code to scan for verification of policy details.
  • It is a joint effort of Insurance Regulatory Development Authority (IRDA), Insurance Information Bureau of India (IIBI), state police and also transport and information technology departments of the state.
  • The QR code will be used by police and state authorities to scan for verification of policy details. Apart from QR code, an SMS-based verification also has been installed.
  • The scheme helps to make verification process easier as the digital version of insurance policy can be stored and accessed on smart phones.
