Sekhar Basu assumes charge as Director of BARC
Renowned scientist Sekhar Basu took the position of director of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC).
- He played pivotal role in the development of atomic reactor for India’s indigenous nuclear submarine “INS Arihant”.
He has also served as the Project Director of the Plutonium Recycling Project, Kalpakkam, which constructed the country’s 1st indigenous Pressurised Water Reactor, fuelled by enriched uranium.
Basu took place of R K Sinha, who has been raised as Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission and Secretary, Department of Atomic Energy.
