President appoints two new judges to Supreme Court

The President elevated PUNJAB and Haryana HC Chief Justice Arjan Kumar Sikri and Madhya Pradesh HC Chief Justice Arvind Bobde as judges of the Supreme Court.

  • Thus, total strength of judges in Supreme Court is now : 30
  • The approved strength of the court, including the Chief Justice of India, is 31.

Justice Bobde (56) will retire in April 2021 and Justice Sikri has a a tenure in the Supreme Court till March 2019.
