PGCIL to set up central transmission utility

The power ministry has directed the state-owned Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) to set up a central transmission utility (CTU) with separate accounting and board structure. This CTU would be fully owned subsidiary of PGCIL responsible for carrying out statutory functions identified for CTU under the Electricity Act. PGCIL is in charge of planning, implementation, operation, maintenance of Inter-State Transmission.
