Brahma Chellaney has been awarded with 2012 Asia Society Bernard Schwartz Book Award for his book Water: Asia’s New Battleground.

Who is Brahma Chellaney?

Brahma Chellaney is a Professor of Strategic Studies at the New Delhi-based Centre for Policy Research, an independent think-tank.
Formerly a Member of the Policy Advisory Group headed by the External Affairs Minister of India.
He has been a Fellow at the Norwegian Nobel Institute, which through the Nobel Committee awards the Nobel Peace Prize annually.

Why this award is given?

Asia Society Bernard Schwartz Book Award is the only award that is given to authors of non-fiction books for their outstanding contributions to the understanding of contemporary Asia or US-Asia relations as well as possible policy impacts relating to the region.
