Odisha Extends Retirement Age of Medical Officers

The Government of Odisha has decided to extend the retirement age of the medical officers employed under the Odisha Medical and Health Services Cadre and Allopathic Insurance Medical Officers under Labour and Employees’ State Insurance Department. The same has been increased to 65 years from the existing age of 62 years.

This comes in the backdrop of the increasing number of COVID 19 cases in the state and the government is willing to utilize the services of the experienced people during this crisis situation. That is why the retirement age has been increased by the government now.

The government has already sanctioned Rs 20.64 crores from the Chief Minister Relief Fund for managing new dedicated COVID hospitals in certain districts of the state. Also, the situation regarding the influx of migrants is critical as more than 1 lakh people have returned to the state.

The government is also planning to establish COVID Care Homes and COVID Care Centres in collaboration with the community organizations and corporates and has also appealed to them to come forward in this fight against the deadly virus.
