ESIC increases the unemployment allowance under Atal Bimit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana

The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) is to pay 50 percent of average wages of three months as unemployment allowance. More than 40 lakh workers who lost their jobs due to pandemic between March 24 and December 31 will receive the benefit, after 30 days.

‘Corona Fighters’ Video game launched by Health Minister

Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan has launched an interactive video game on COVID-19, named the ‘Corona Fighters’ to spread awareness on the disease. Two promotional videos to describe about the appropriate behaviours during the Covid-19 pandemic were also released.

Tribal Ministry launches tertiary processing centres of ‘Trifood Project’

Union Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda e-launched the tertiary processing centres of ‘Trifood Project’ in Raigad (Maharashtra) and Jagdalpur (Chhattisgarh). It is an initiative of TRIFED, Ministry of Tribal Affairs in association with Ministry of Food Processing.

India to launch Direct shipping service to Maldives

India is set to launch a direct Cargo Ferry Service connecting Kochi and Tuticorin with Malé, Maldives in the 3rd week of September. A vessel operated by the Shipping Corporation of India, which can carry containers and general cargo will be used for this ferry service.

Fire in Srisailam Hydroelectric plant, Telangana

A massive fire occurred in the Srisailam Hydroelectric plant, located in the state of Telangana. This unforeseen incident killed at least nine people including five engineers of Telangana State Power Generation Corporation. An investigation is to be launched over the incident.

Flipkart partners with Sastodeal and expands its business to Nepal

E-commerce giant Flipkart has partnered with leading e-commerce firm of Nepal, Sastodeal to expand its business to Nepal. This is its first partnership with an overseas company to sell Make in India products. Over 5000 products will be listed on Sastodeal under this partnership.
