Migratory Birds Dead in Rajasthan’s Sambhar Lake

Nearly 17,000 migratory birds have died so far at the country’s largest inland water saltwater lake near Jaipur due to botulism, a serious and fatal illness that affects the nerves. The deaths were reported in Jaipur, Nagaur and Ajmer districts of Rajasthan. The Study from the Bhopal has ruled out that birds died due to avian flu .On 10 Nov, thousands of birds, including Northern Shoveler, Ruddy Shelduck, Plovers, Avocets, were found dead in area around Sambhar Lake. The Sambhar Lake is India’s largest inland salt lake. It is located 80 km southwest of the city of Jaipur and 64 km northeast of Ajmer. It surrounds the historical Sambhar Lake Town.
