Manohar Parrikar resigns as Goa CM

On 8th November 2014, Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar resigned from his position to take up post of Defence minister in the Union Cabinet.  With the resignation of Parrikar, entire state cabinet comprising of 12 ministers was dissolved. The fresh cabinet would be sworn-in along with the new Chief Minister.

About Manohar Parrikar

  • Parrikar was born on 13 December 1955.
  • He did his graduation in metallurgical engineering from IIT Bombay in 1978.
  • He was Chief Minister of Goa first from 2000 to 2005 and later from March 2012 to November 2014.
  • Manohar Parrikar is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in India and represented the Panaji constituency in the Legislative Assembly of Goa.
