Justice Ajit Singh sworn-in as Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court

Justice Ajit Singh was sworn in as Chief Justice (CJ) of the Gauhati High Court.
He was administered the oath of office by Assam Governor P B Acharya as per the provisions of the Article 219 of Constitution.
He was appointed by President Pranab Mukherjee as per provisions Article 222 of Constitution after following recommendation of the Supreme Court collegium headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) T.S. Thakur.

About Justice Ajit Singh

  • Justice Ajit Singh was born in 1956. He had enrolled as an advocate in 1979. He had practiced on Criminal, Civil, and Constitutional sides in the High Court of Madhya Pradesh at Jabalpur.
  • In 2002, he was appointed as an Additional Judge of High Court of Madhya Pradesh and later in 2003 as a permanent Judge. He was transferred to the Rajasthan High Court in March 2014.

Note: The Gauhati High Court includes the High Courts of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland.
