Israel space craft crashed while trying to land on moon

An Israeli spacecraft that was funded privately crashed in to the moon minutes before touching its surface. The space lost its communication with the earth controlling station minutes before the crashing.

The engine of the spacecraft turned OFF before landing. Scientists are still trying to find the reasons behind the crashing. The mission as called the Doron which means ‘amazing success’ was the cheapest ever spacecraft sent to moon. It was Israel’s first attempt to send a spacecraft that could land on moon. The mission also had the technology to preserve fuel. The atmospheric and landing conditions of the moon and the earth are totally different. Therefore to design a spacecraft that could land on both the surfaces successfully is a real challenge.

The technology of building the smallest spacecraft have so far only been achieved by US, China and Russia. The PM Benjamin Netanyahu also witnessed the mishap.
