International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide and of the Prevention of this Crime

The International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide and of the Prevention of this Crime is a international observance established by the United Nations General Assembly to raise awareness of the genocide convention and the role the U.N Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (also called the Genocide Convention) plays in combating and preventing the crime of genocide.
The genocide convention was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in the year 1948, on 9th December.
In September 2015, the U.N General Assembly established 9th December as the international observance day.
