International Civil Aviation Day 2019

In 1994, International Civil Aviation Day was established as a part of the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Convention on International Civil Aviation.

In 1996, The United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution A/RES/51/33, under which 7th December was officially recognized as the International Civil Aviation Day.

The International Civil Aviation Organization(ICAO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations, established in 1944 under the Convention on International Civil Aviation.

The Convention on International Civil Aviation was signed at Chicago on 7th December 1944.

The purpose of the Day is to help reinforce and generate worldwide awareness on the importance of International Civil Aviation for the economic and social development of countries around the world, also the role of ICAO in helping countries to cooperate among themselves.
