Gandhian Jharna Jhara honoured with Peace and Harmony Award
Veteran Gandhian of Bangladesh Ms Jharna Jhara honoured with Chaudhary Ranbir Singh International Peace and Harmony Award. The award was given last time to well-known Gandhian Dr S N Subbarao.
85-years-old Ms Jharna Jhara is working for cause of rural development, welfare of the poor and women, besides promoting peace and harmony in the society through Gandhi Ashram Trust, Noakhali, Bangladesh
This Ashram was established in 1946 by Mahatma Gandhi, soon after Noakhali communal riots. Gandhiji had stayed in this Ashram for some time and appealed to the people to maintain peace and harmony.
