Dearness allowance of government employees hiked by 5%

To compensate the rising prices of commodities, Government has hiked Dearness Allowance (DA) by 5%, which means DA will be now 17% of the basic pay which was 12% previously. This hike has been approved by the cabinet on recommendations of 7th pay commission. This step will benefit 50 lakh current government employees and 65 lakh pensioners. This increasei in DA will be effective retrospectively from July this year.
