Professor Shyama Prasad Ganguly, head of the Centre for Spanish and Latin American Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University was awarded the Mexican Order of the Aztec Eagle, the highest civilian honour given to a foreigner by Mexico for his outstanding work in the study and dissemination of the Spanish language and Mexican culture.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Hyderabad has developed a Smartphone-based system to detect adulteration in milk which has a detector system to measure acidity in milk using an indicator paper that changes colour according to acidity. Algorithms are also incorporated to accurately detect the colour change.

ICMR released Antimicrobial Stewardship Guidelines to advise hospitals in setting up Antimicrobial Stewardship Programmes (AMSP) to ensure judicious use of antibiotics in healthcare facilities.
