Director of Haryana Kala Parishad Usha Sharma has been awarded Lifetime Achievement Award by the Haryana government for promoting Haryanvi dance and culture in the state and abroad. The award was conferred on her by the Haryana Governor on the occasion of 44th Haryana Day on November 1.
November 3, 2009 : International Sikh Forum ‘Sikh of the Year’ award -Preneet Kaur
Preneet Kaur,union minister of state for external affairs has been chosen by International Sikh Forum for ‘Sikh of the Year’ award for the year 2009 for her outstanding contributions to the state of Punjab and Sikhs. The award has been earlier conferred upon former Army chief Gen J. J. Singh and Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia.
November 3, 2009 : FIAPF Award – Yash Chopra
The FIAPF-Federation Internationale des Associations de Producteurs de Films (International Federation of Film Producers Associations) based in Paris, created in 1933, is an organisation composed with 31 member associations from 25 of the leading audio-visual production countries. Yash Chopra has been awarded the FIAPF award for outstanding achievement in film making at the Annual Asia Pacific Screen Awards, the regions highest accolade in films. The award is the latest in the line of honours for Yash Chopra, who last month received the Asian Filmmaker of
the Year Award at the Pusan International Film Festival in Korea. Yash Chopra also received an award from President Pratibha Patil at the National Film Awards, where Yashraj Films Chak De India got an award for Best Film providing wholesome family entertainment.
November 7, 2009 : Yale University’s Leadership Award – Nandan Nilkeni
Nandan Nilekani who is chairman of India’s Unique Identification Database Authority has become the first Indian to receive Yale university’s prestigious Legend in Leadership Award. The Yale CEO Leadership Summit which brought together over 100 world-renowned business leaders in New Delhi Nov 5-6 to discuss the theme of “Navigating the Global Oceans of Opportunity for Indian Business.
November 10, 2009: Malaria awards to National Institute of Malaria Research Scientists.
The Delhi-based NIMR director Dr V K Dua was honoured with the Godrej Sara Lee Limited award Rs one lakh for his phenomenal research on personal protection from mosquitto vectors and deputy director at Roorkey Dr S K Sharma bagged Rs one lakh award for his outstanding contribution to research vectors instituted by Biotech International Limited. Dr Neena Valecha of the NIMR, specialist in pharmacology, was awarded Rs one lakh for the contribution on vector diseses management, instituted by the Bhubaneswar-headquartered National Academy of Vector Borne Diseases (NAVBD). A gold medal and a citation, also instituted by the NAVBD, was bagged by Dr B N Nagpal of NIMR for his work on environment aspects of VB diseases, particularly on ”attracticices” in collaboration with the Defence Research Development Establisment recently.
A three-day symposium, being attended by about 400 delegates from across the globe, was organised by the NAVBD in collaboration with the Goa University.
November 5,2009: Moortidevi Award to Veerappa Moily
Union Law Minister and accomplished writer, Veerappa Moily, has been declared the winner of the prestigious Moortidevi Award for his book Shri Ramayan Mahaniveshanam, which is considered as the best Ramayana in Kannada after Kuvempu’s. The Moortidevi Award is considered the most prestigious literary award in the country after the Bharatiya Jnanpith. This award is presented every year for a contemplative or creative work, which expresses, underlines and illumines human values rooted in the broad vision of Indian philosophy and cultural heritage.
- The objective of the Award is to foster social and individual commitment to higher values of life through the medium of literature in its larger sense.
- Moily gets the 21st edition of the Moortidevi Award, while the 20th edition of the award goes to Krishna Bihari Mishra for Kalpataru ke Utsav Leela.
