Congress emerges largest party in 2017 Manipur Legislative Assembly election

Indian National Congress (INC) emerged as the single largest party in the 2017 Manipur Legislative Assembly election by winning 28 seats of the total 60 seats. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 21 seats, Naga People’s Front National People’s Party won 4 seats each, Lok Janshakti Party, All India Trinamool Congress and Independents won 1 seat each. The election was held on 4 March & 8 March 2017 in two phases. It saw record turnout of 86%.
