Bor Wildlife Sanctuary: India’s 47th Tiger Reserve

As per the notification of Environment Ministry, Maharashtra’s Bor Wildlife Sanctuary will become the country’s 47^th Tiger Reserve with an aim to bolster the conservation efforts of the national animal.
Notified by the State in 1970, the Bor Wildlife Sanctuary, is rich in biodiversity with a great variety of flora and fauna, including tiger, co-predators, prey animals and birds.
The habitat is picturesque and is on the periphery of Nagpur and Wardha districts, amidst the Satpura-Maikal landscape, forming catchment of the River Bor. The sanctuary is also an important corridor between Tadoba-Andhari and Pench Tiger Reserves of the State. Bor is the 6^th tiger reserve of Maharashtra.
