The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh recently launched the ‘Jagananna Vidya Deevena’ scheme for supporting college education in the state.
About the Scheme
The Andhra Pradesh government launched the Jagananna Vidya Deevena scheme for aiding 14 lakh college students in the state. It is a fee reimbursement scheme for which more than 4,000 crore INR has already been released and 1,880 crore INR for pending dues.
This is a direct benefit transfer scheme where the fee reimbursement amount will be credited to the accounts of the students’ mothers in 4 instalments. An amount of 15,000 to 20,000 INR will be provided for ITI, B.Tech, B. Pharmacy, MBA, MCA, and B.Ed Courses.
Education Policy in Andhra Pradesh
In recent times, Andhra Pradesh is making use of a two-pronged strategy to improve education in the state. One is the provision of financial assistance to mothers of school going children and college students to help overcome the problem of affordability. On the other hand, educational inequality is being tackled by introduction of English as a medium of instruction in government schools in addition to vernacular.
