50th Mission of PSLV to launch RISAT-2BR1

The Indian Space Research Organization(ISRO) has scheduled the launch of RISAT-2BR1 from the first launch pad of the Satish Dhawan Space Centre located in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh on 11th December 2019 at 1525 Hrs IST. This will be the 75th launch mission from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre.

The launch would mark the 50th mission of the ISRO’s expendable medium-lift Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV).

The PSLV made its first flight on 20th September 1993, in its 26 years, PSLV has launched 50 Indian satellites and 222 foreign satellites.

RISAT-2BR1 weighs about 628kg, is a radar imaging earth observation satellite that will be placed into an orbit of 576 km at a 37-degree inclination.

PSLV-C48 will also be carrying 9 commercial satellites( 1 each from Israel, Italy and Japan, and 6 from the United States of America).
