Technology has entered all facets of human endeavour as there is increased use of machine-learning and artificial intelligence. These technologies power most of the devices in use today like smartphones, Internet of Things like voice assistants, cameras, etc. AI has come to play a very important role when it is used in combination with Virtual or Augmented Reality, Robotics, etc. But, given the uses, the danger of deepfakes cannot be ruled out. There are many ways in which this can harm the way people conduct their daily lives and business. The policies and regulations do not have to trail behind and match the pace of technology development. The most important concern is that there is lack of privacy and laws on data protection which are not possible without sound understanding of the algorithm.
