Short Note: NITI Aayog’s proposal of Flexi Pool of Officers

What is the NITI Aayog Proposal of Flexi Pool of Officers to share the work load of PMO? How are the officers proposed to be recruited in Flexi Pool?

The NITI Aayog which is one of the top most bodies in the country involved in policy making. Recently this body decided to form a ‘Flexi Pool’ which will consist of around 100 experts of the ranks advisors, economic officers, senior research officers etc. these officers will be hired on deputation or by direct recruitment on a contractual basis.

The reason why such a pool of experts is being formed is after considering the Sindushree Kullar’s task force advice which decided to reconstruct the NITI Aayog secretariat and divide it into a Team India Hub (TIH), a flexi pool, and a Knowledge and Innovation Hub (KIH). This body will be created in order to reduce the workload in the Prime Minister’s Office and increase the overall efficiency. With so many experts on board the Aayog will be able to better perform its functions and give even better advice to the government on any issue. This proposal is not very new but is there since 2015. NITI aayog has not been very much successful so far in this.
