To boost telemedicine in rural parts of India, “SEHAT”, a health care initiative has been launched by the Union Minister for Information Technology and Telecom, Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi. As part of the inititive, people in rural areas can consult doctors online and also order generic drugs.This Social Endeavour for Health And Telemedicine (SEHAT) venture with the Apollo Hospitals is expected to connect 60,000 Common Service Centres (CSCs) across the country to a common network and provide healthcare access to millions of citizens irrespective of geographical location or connectivity.
