Varyag

Varyag is the name of a former Soviet Union Navy cruiser that was later sold to China and renamed the Liaoning. It is currently a training ship for the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) of China. The Varyag was originally built in the late 1980s, but it was never completed due to the collapse of the Soviet Union. It was purchased by China in 1998 and underwent extensive renovations before being commissioned into the PLAN in 2012. Today, the Varyag is used for training and research purposes and is often seen participating in naval exercises and other events.
