On 28 November 2010, the whistle blower website Wikileaks started publishing the classified documents of detailed correspondence between the US State Department and its diplomatic missions around the Globe. This was third release of the "secret Official Documents" after the Afghan War Documents in July and Iraq War Documents in October. A total of 2.5 Lakh documents were released and were simultaneously covered by El Pais of Spain, Le Monde of France, Der Spiegel of Germany, The Guardian of United Kingdom and The New York times of the United States. Criticism and Support: The Wikileaks, which is being run by the Sunshine Press and its founder Julian Assange have come under sheer criticism, disapproval and condemnation for potentially jeopardizing the bilateral and multilateral relations and Global security. However, supporters of Julian Assange have hailed him as a defender of free speech and freedom of press. Impact on Bilateral & Multilateral Relations: The sanctity of diplomatic communications has been honored for ages. The intelligence of intrusion into the contents of diplomatic communications has been preferred by the countries more commonly during the war times. The Technological advances made the old methods of sending envoys to other countries irrelevant but this exposure has shaken the faith of the world in the confidentiality of the high level communications. The Wikileaks exposure was described as the "espionage in the most serious form" and the US white house was seen considering possibilities of taking legal actions against the whistle blower website. Myth of Islamic Unity: The Wikileaks exposes a myth of the Islamic Unity, and we find the Islamic world (particularly Pakistan) willing to collaborate with the Americans against their enemies / rivals even if they are Muslims. Similarly, we find that Saudi Arabia and some other Gulf countries willing to support the American operations in Iran.
US Double Standards: The Americans have been following double standards in the matter of Pakistan Sponsored Terrorism, there is no change in the attitude. This exposure should awake the Indians and should lead them get rid of the illusions regarding the Americans in our minds. India should draw its own strategy to deal with Pakistan and its terrorists. The US attitude has not changes in 3 decades, and it will not change in near future.
US dilemma in Afghanistan: The NATO seems to be clueless in Afghanistan. The intentions of the Jihadist are as they were a decade ago and they seem thirsty of the US Blood.
India's UNSC permanent seat candidature: The policy of the Obama administration is too exposed when India and other countries were called "self appointed Front runners". Similarly the leaks also make it clear that China would never accept an equal status for India in the UNSC.
American Administration Ethics: The communication from the US state department to the US permanent mission in UN Headquarters to collect personal details of the staff of the UN secretariat for intelligence exposes the twisted morality / ethics of Obama administration.
