Jharkhand with more than 38% of total reserves is the largest coal producing state in the country followed by Orissa, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, and Madhya Pradesh. First statement is also correct because about 80 per cent of the coal deposits in India is of bituminous type and is of non-coking grade.
