Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme was launched in 1964 and is a Programme of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.  This programme is an attempt by India to share the fruits of its socio-economic development and technological achievement with other developing countries. ITEC programme was brainchild of Jawahar Lal Nehru.  This programme is fully funded by the government of India. Under ITEC and its corollary programme SCAAP (Special Commonwealth African Assistance Programme), 158 countries in Asia, East Europe, Central Asia, Africa, Latin America, Caribbean and Pacific area are invited to share in the Indian developmental experience in various fields.
