Consider the following pairs:

  1. Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs)→ Paris Agreement
  2. Biosafety Clearing House→ Cartagena Protocol
  3. The fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising out of the utilization of genetic resources→ Nagoya Protocol

Which of the above is/are correct?

Answer: [D] 1, 2 & 3

The Cartagena Protocol established a Biosafety Clearing-House (BCH) as part of the clearing-house mechanism of the Convention, in order to facilitate the exchange of scientific, technical, environmental and legal information on, and experience with, living modified organisms; and to assist Parties to implement the Protocol. The Nagoya Protocol on ABS was adopted on 29 October 2010 in Nagoya, Japan and entered into force on 12 October 2014. It provides a transparent legal framework for the effective implementation of one of the three objectives of the CBD: the fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising out of the utilization of genetic resources.
