Govt of Goa started Ladli Laxmi Scheme initiated by Women and Child Welfare department. The scheme is aimed preventing female feticide in the state.

The scheme:

• Girls who are 18 years and above would be provided with Rs. 1 Lakh for their marriage. This scheme is for those girls who lie between the age group of 18-40 years.
• Scheme only for girls whose parents are living in Goa for the last 25 years. Besides, the girl should have been born and brought up in the state.
