Virat Kohli: ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year

Timagehe Indian Cricket team’s Vice-Captain, Virat Kohli was awarded as the ODI Cricketer of the year. He was honored with this title for smashing 1733 runs in 31 matches at an average of 66.65, which included eight centuries and six half-centuries.

Andy Murray: First British man to win a Grand Slam title after 76 years

  • imageAndy Murray defeated Novak Djokovic in the US Open men’s singles to become first British man to clinch the championship after 76 years.
  • Before this, Fred Perry was the British player to capture a grand slam in US Championship in 1936.
  • Murray had recently won Olympic Gold medal in Men’s singles and a silver medal in mixed doubles in the 2012 London Olympics.
  • Andy Murray is also the first British player, who bagged an Olympic Gold medal in 100 years.

Klitschko defeats Charr, retains WBC heavy weight title

imageVitali Klitschko of Ukraine defeated Manuel Charr of Germany to retain his WBC heavyweight title. 

The medical team and the referee stopped the bout 56 seconds before the end of the fourth round after witnessing a cut mark on the opponent’s eye, the German Manuel Charr, 27.

Serena Williams clinches Women's Singles US Open 2012

imageSerena Williams of USA clinched her fourth Women's Singles US Open title in New York. The fourth seeded Serena beat the top seeded Victoria Azarenka of Belarus. It was Serena's 15th Grand Slam singles title. 

US Open Women’s Doubles:

Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci of Italy beat Czech pair of Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka.
