New awards for safe motherhood in Haryana: “Surakshit Maa” and “Swastha Maa”

In order to promote institutional deliveries and create awareness and “responsibility towards health” in pregnant women, the Haryana Government is introducing imagetwo awards from the next financial year:-

Surakshit Maa:- Under this scheme, women who report for ante-natal registration in the first trimester would become eligible to be registered for a lottery  draw every month in the sub-centre. 3 women would be selected for a prize of Rs.300 and they would be given utility items like utensils, containers or food items like 1 kilogram of desi ghee.

Swasth Maa:- Under this scheme, ante-natal women would be screened during 9 months (36 weeks of pregnancy) for fulfilling certain criteria. There would be a bumper draw every month at the concerned Primary Health Centre.

Rs.81.50 lakh had been set aside for execution of the 2 schemes during 2012-13 in 4 districts -- Mewat, Palwal, Jhajjar and Bhiwani. Currently there are 84 sub-centres in Mewat district, 88 in Palwal, 122 in Jhajjar and 214 in Bhiwani

Sachin completes Century of Centuries : 100/100

Sachin Tendulkar wrote History by scoring a brilliant century to become the first Crickter to ever score 100 international centuries. Tendulkar reached the milestone against Bangladesh in Asia Cup Cricket tournament being held at Dhaka. This was his 49th century in one day cricket. Tendulkar is the only person in the history of cricket to complete a century of centuries. He was also the first batsman to score a double-hundred in ODIs.

IT sector, the biggest job creator in FY12

In India the job market has egressed unhurt from a slowdown in the economic growth rate and India has preserved an upward trend in hiring activities ceaselessly for about three years. As per the Economic Survey, India saw more than 9 lakh jobs being added in the one-year period ended September 2011, where IT and BPO sectors accounted for a major chunk of the new jobs (about 8 lakh).

Finance Minister presented the 2012 Budget

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee presented the Union Budget 2012 in the Loksabha. Finance Minister held that the Indian economy continues to grow and that higher growth in Indian economy will help India to play a responsible role in the recovery of global slowdown.
Finance Minister recognized, 5 key objectives for Indian Economy in the next fiscal year:

  1. Focus on domestic demand driven growth recovery;
  2. Create conditions for rapid revival of high growth in private investment;
  3. Address supply bottlenecks in agriculture, energy and transport sectors, particularly in coal, power, national highways, railways and civil aviation;
  4. Intervene decisively to address the problem of malnutrition especially in the 200 high-burden districts; and
  5. Expedite coordinated implementation of decisions being taken to improve delivery systems, governance, and transparency; and address the problem of black money and corruption in public life.

AAI wins international award

In acknowledgement of its distinction in the air traffic control industry, the AAI (Airports Authority of India) won the Jane’s Award for 2012, an international award in the 'Best Operational Efficiency’ category.

Jane’s ATC Awards have established a reputation for recognizing and rewarding excellence within air traffic control industry.

India had sent in the nomination for the coveted Jane’s Award under the operational efficiency category featuring Indian upper airspace harmonisation programme.

The upper airspace harmonization programme involves redesigning the airspace to increase airspace capacity through operation of multiple ATC sectors enabled by ATS Auto-mation, networking of Radars and VHF frequencies.   The redesigning of the upper space was being taken up in various phases in the four Flight Information Regions (FIRs)– Chennai, Mumbai, New Delhi and Kolkata with Chennai FIR being the first one.
