Discuss the meaning of standard of care.

The standard of care is the degree of care, skill or diligence which a reasonable and prudent man is required to use in particular situation in order to avoid the imputation of negligence. The duty of care required in each particular case will depend upon the magnitude of the risk involved the importance of the object to be attained and the practicability of precautions. The standard of care required is a matter of law and does not vary according to the individual although it does vary according to the circumstances.
