Pankaj Advani wins World Billiards Championships title

Indian ace cueist Pankaj Advani has won his 11th World Billiards (150-Up format) Championships title by defeating Peter Gilchrist of Singapore in the summit clash held in Bengaluru. With this win, he has wrapped up his 16th world title overall. Advani is also first Indian world champion in 6-red snooker. He is the only Indian to win the amateur world title in both snooker and billiards. Pankaj Advani is also the youngest person in the world to have won all the world titles in English billiards for a record 8 times. He is also the only person to have won all five national, regional, and world billiards tournaments in a single season. In recognition of his achievements in sports, Union Government has bestowed several awards upon him including Arjuna Award (2004), Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna (2006) and Padma Shri (2009).
