December 30, 2009: Lokmanya Tilak Journalist Award 2009: N Ram
The Lokmanya Tilak Journalist Award for 2009 will be conferred upon N Ram, the Editor-in-Chief of 'The Hindu', 'Frontline', 'Business Line' and 'The Sportstar'. The award is instituted by Kesari-Mahratta Trust, and founded by Lokmanya Tilak in 1881, for excellence in journalism is given to a personality whose contribution is of national importance.

National Environmental Science Academy has selected for Scientist of the Year Award, Aligarh Muslim University's Zoology lecturer Dr Riaz Ahmad for his contributions in the area of biochemical and molecular genetics. The award recognizes his important contribution in 'asphyxia-related switch over' and 'down regulation of ATPase Activity' in several Airbreathing Organ (ABO) possessing freshwater fishes.
Dr Ahmad is also the recipient of prestigious Young Scientist Project of DST and D D S Kothari Post Doctoral Fellowship from UGC.
